Two Free State learners are expected in court after allegedly raping a fellow pupil in Bothaville.

A video clip of two 14-year-old boys sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at a school in Kgotsong, Bothaville, started circulating on social media on Wednesday (15/11). 

The boys were arrested after the victim’s mother registered a case of rape on behalf of her daughter, said Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng. The Welkom Family Violence and Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit previously followed up on the incident. 

Both boys were released in the care of their parents. They will appear in the Bothaville Magistrate's Court on Monday (20/11).
