The Mmabana Arts Foundation has warmly welcomed back seven of the gymnasts from Birmingham in the UK, who were part of team South Africa at the World Age Group Games Championships.

Kgalalelo Molotsi of the Mmabana Arts Foundation said the athletes have made a mark at the event, with a phenomenal determination to do well on the international stage.


Kobamo Keameditse, competing in the 13-14 age group, secured a 14th position. While in the age group 11-12, Mbuso Cindi finished 8th and went on to obtain the 6th position worldwide.

Molotsi said they are immensely proud of the athletes’ achievements and the bright future they bring to the world of gymnastics.

Although the athletes didn't bring home medals, their position has shown an improvement.

Vuyisile George in the 13-14 age group, reached the top 8, advanced to the finals, and he went on to claim an outstanding 5th position globally.

‘The foundation is immensely proud of the athlete's achievements’

George's performance earned him a qualification for the inaugural Junior World Championships, where he finished in 13th position.

"We congratulate the incredible gymnasts for their dedication, hard work, and determination to leave an indelible mark on the international stage," said Molotsi.

The group has previously competed in Baku, Azerbaijan, and Sofia in Bulgaria, with the support of the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation.
