“They discovered two vehicles were involved.”
One person died after a crash between a car and a bus on the N8 in the Free State. The accident took place in the early hours of Saturday (5/19) at about 04:50. The Free State police spokesperson, Mahlomola Kareli, said the Botshabelo police were summoned to the N8 road by a caller allegedly talking about a bus accident.
The officers rushed to the scene and on arrival, they discovered two vehicles were involved – a bus with passengers travelling to Bloemfontein and a blue VW Polo vehicle travelling towards Botshabelo.

Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicles allegedly collided head-on. The VW driver (40) died at the scene and his female passenger was rushed to hospital. No one from the bus was reported injured. The police opened a case of culpable homicide for further investigation.
