The North West Department of Education emphasised its commitment to quality education with the official handover of a newly built primary school.
Led by Education MEC Ntsetsao Viola Motsumi, alongside Executive Mayor of the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality, Motseokae Maje, the state-of-the-art facilities at Tlakgameng Primary School in Tlakgameng village were officially unveiled.
The R69 million upgrade includes 21 classrooms, a fully equipped library, a science laboratory, Grade R infrastructure, an administration block, security fencing, and a nutrition centre – all designed to improve the learning environment for learners.

Motsumi emphasised that this development is part of a broader initiative to transform the province’s education landscape.
“It is essential that we all take collective responsibility to care for this school. I urge the community, learners, and School Governing Body to safeguard this school against theft and vandalism,” she said.
She also stressed the importance of uninterrupted education, particularly during times of unrest.
“I appeal to all stakeholders to respect the teaching and learning process and avoid disruptions, particularly during service delivery protests.”
North West Education spokesperson Mphata Molokwane noted that this project is one of several planned by the department throughout Mandela Month in July.
“The handover of Tlakgameng Primary School is one of several planned by MEC Motsumi during Mandela Month, reinforcing the province’s dedication to providing quality education and nurturing safe, supportive learning environments,” said Molokwane.
