Win or not, this journey is equipping her with skills. “It’s equipping me with networks, and also courage.”

Mrs SA 2025 finalist Siyasanga Mophethe said she has discovered a great deal about herself throughout this journey – including just how courageous she truly is. “I didn’t know the depth of courage and faith I possess. I hope to carry that forward into every area of my life.”

In a tale of resilience and triumph, the civil engineering contractor from the Free State has emerged as a top 30 finalist in the beauty pageant. Her journey is a testament to turning personal struggle into a powerful force for good, as she represents her province on a national stage.

To cast your vote, SMS Siyasanga Mophethe to 47587.

Mophethe’s path to the Mrs SA finals is deeply personal. She shared her story of being abandoned while pregnant and struggling to provide for her son. This painful past, however, became the very foundation of her purpose-driven life.

“I’ve seen it in my life that pain will point you in the direction of your purpose,” said Mophethe.

It was during these moments of hardship that she founded the Siyasanga Qomoyi Foundation. “And I promised myself that no child around me would suffer, as mine.”

The foundation’s core mission is child nutrition, providing warm meals to children in need. “Child nutrition is fundamental – it’s a necessity. A hungry child cannot learn, cannot grow, cannot dream. We must be the voice for our children.”

Despite facing challenges such as limited funding and resources, especially during the harsh winter months, she remains unwavering in her commitment. With the support of friends, volunteers, and compassionate organisations like Eagle Christian Church and St Andrews School, her vision continues to thrive.

She dreams of expanding the foundation’s reach – establishing sustainable feeding schemes and empowering communities to cultivate their own food gardens. Her journey is not just about nourishment, but about planting seeds of hope and resilience in every child’s life.

‘More than just a crown’

She also hopes to build dignified homes for child-headed households and the elderly, and to assist mothers in starting their own small businesses, enabling them to provide for their children.

As a gender activist, Mophethe is committed to creating spaces where women are seen, heard, and protected. She highlights gender-based violence as one of the most pressing issues in South Africa, a daily tragedy that reinforces the urgent need for change.

Furthermore, for her, the Mrs South Africa journey is about more than a crown; it’s about gaining long-lasting sisterhoods, broadening her platform for advocacy, and becoming a stronger version of herself – a woman with the courage and faith to carry her mission forward.

To support her mission and her journey, you can cast your vote by sending the SMS message “Siyasanga Mophethe” to 47587.
