Bloemfontein man will spend life behind bars for murder─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:01 Sat, 30 Aug 2025

He has received this heavy sentence for murdering his girlfriend on Monday, 3 April.
Motlholo Kenneth Melamu was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tshepang Cecelia Mohapi (19) at Harmony Farm on N6 National Road. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The Bloemfontein High Court heard the account of the heinous crime as witnessed by the sibling to the deceased on Thursday (28/8), said Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane.
Her sister (12) could only watch helplessly, begging Melamu to stop, as he stabbed Tshepang with a sharp object on the right shoulder, upper arm, and on the rib cage.
The young girl ran out of the house to alert their mother, who was visiting the neighbours.
An ambulance was called, and Tshepang was taken to the hospital, where she died. The police later arrested him and recovered the murder weapon from the scene. A murder case docket was opened at Kagisanong Police Station, and the Mangaung Metro Trio Task team investigated the case.
