The chairperson, 58, of the taxi association in Tseseng was shot and killed on Saturday night (24/1). Officers from Tseseng police station received a report of a shooting shortly before 21:00, and immediately responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered the body of a woman lying in a pool of blood inside a shack. “The victim was later identified as Matshediso Nteo,” said police spokesperson Sgt Mahlomola Kareli. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body and was certified dead on the scene.
While investigations are still underway, police said the killing may be linked to her role in the taxi industry.
“The deceased was recently elected as the chairperson of the Qwauta Association within the taxi industry. Preliminary investigations suggest four suspects were seen in the vicinity and may have fled the scene in an unidentified white vehicle with GP number plates.”
