Allan Donald named SA over 50's World Cup Coach─── 08:12 Fri, 07 Feb 2020

With South Africa hosting its second Cricket World Cup of the year, the Over 50's Cricket World Cup, Allan Donald will take the position of Head Coach for the South African Team.
The Over 50's Cricket World Cup sponsored by Evergreen Lifestyle from 11- 24 March that will see 12 national teams competing in the tournament. The 12 teams are the West Indies, India, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, Wales, Canada, and South Africa.
The tournament will be spilt into two divisions, A and B. Defending champions Australia are in Division A alongside New Zealand, Canada, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe, while the hosts, South Africa are in Division B alongside Pakistan, England, Wales, India and Namibia.
South Africa do come into the tournament with the disappointing news of losing Jonty Rhodes from the squad ahead of the tournament, however, the squad remains strong with some classic names in the country's history of the game, including the likes of Dave Callaghan, who will captain the team, Alan Dawson and Pieter Strydom, to name a few.
The team's coach, Allan Donald, is no stranger to coaching having worked as consultant for international teams including the England national team as well as New Zealand and Sri Lanka, and let's not forget, the bowling coach for the Proteas. Donald also enjoyed a spell in the Indian Premier League with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Most recently he was assistant coach at Kent County Cricket Club in England. He is currently the consulting coach for all Free State Cricket teams, including the Knights franchise.
Donald will now add a feather to his cap as he takes over the reigns as the head coach for the SA team in the over 50's Cricket World Cup.
The event forms part of the mission of the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa’s (VCASA) to keep older cricketers in the game.
