The off spinner was an integral part of the Sunrisers’ championship winning squad in Season 2, playing 11 matches and claiming eight wickets in the process.
He only played three matches in the following season but enters Season 4 in red-hot form.
The 36-year-old was in phenomenal form with the Proteas Test side. He claimed 6/50 in the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi to drive the Proteas to their first Test win there for 18 years.
In the process, he claimed his 1 000th first-class wicket.
But that was only the appetiser with Harmer delivering the best performance of his career during the subsequent India series.
The 36-year-old claimed 17 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.94 across the two-match series - shattering Dale Steyn’s record for most wickets by a South African in an Indian series.
His spectacular 6/37 in the second Test in Guwahati delivered a mammoth 408-run victory to seal a 2-0 clean sweep for the Proteas.
It was South Africa’s first Test series victory in India for 25 years.
Narine will arrive at Kingsmead for his maiden Betway SA20 season after completing his commitments elsewhere.
