De Zorzi and Nortjé return as Proteas name Bangladesh Test squad─── MORGAN PIEK 09:24 Tue, 03 Nov 2026
Proteas captain Temba Bavuma will once again be at the helm as South Africa prepare to welcome Bangladesh for a two-Test series later this month, with the hosts looking to build on their recent success against Australia.
The Proteas, who have climbed to the top of the Test rankings, head into the series on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Australia and will be eager to maintain that winning momentum on home soil.
The first Test will be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg from 15 to 19 November, before the teams move to SuperSport Park in Centurion for the second Test, scheduled for 23 to 27 November.

There is encouraging news for the South African camp, with Tony de Zorzi returning to the fold after recovering from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the recent series against Australia. Lions batter Zubayr Hamza has also earned a place in the 15-man squad, adding further depth to the batting department. It’s Hamza’s first national call-up since serving a two-year suspension for the use of a banned substance.
The bowling attack has also received a welcome boost, with Anrich Nortjé returning after spending two weeks on the sidelines with a groin injury. He joins an imposing pace contingent that includes Kagiso Rabada, Dane Paterson, Corbin Bosch, Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder.
However, Lungi Ngidi remains unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation and was not considered for selection.
Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad believes the team will be well equipped to handle the challenge posed by Bangladesh, although conditions at the two Highveld venues are likely to play a significant role in determining the final combinations.
“Coming off a hard-fought series against Australia, our focus will be on carrying that momentum into the Bangladesh series, which is our next big assignment of the summer," said Conrad.
“Traditionally, surfaces on the Highveld favour pace and bounce, although we have seen the Wanderers offer some assistance to spin in recent times. With that in mind, there will be greater focus on our seam-bowling options.

“We know the threat Bangladesh pose and expect their quicks to be very effective in Highveld conditions."
Conrad was also pleased to have De Zorzi back in contention, while Hamza's inclusion provides the selectors with another option in the top order.
“In terms of our batting options, it's good to welcome Tony back following his recovery from injury, while Zubayr's inclusion gives us further depth to our top order.
“The build-up to the first Test will give us the opportunity to assess our options and settle on the best combination for the conditions.”
