#YouthDay: Fighting a different battle─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 10:25 Sun, 16 Jun 2019
On June 16, each year South Africans celebrate and commemorate the young people who led and died in the 1976 Soweto uprisings.
The current youth of South Africa now fight a different battle. The rainbow nation’s youth unemployment rate stands at an alarming 55,2%.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address at a National Youth Day event at the Peter Mokaba Cricket Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, where is expected to allay some of the youth’s many concerns, especially regarding unemployment.
Newly appointed Free State Finance MEC, Gadija Brown, on the other hand warns that while government is doing all they can to assist, government isn’t the only answer to youth unemployment.
