Rejuvenation Week | News Article

This Women’s Month, Mid-Morning Magic is looking into rejuvenation with the help of Contour.MED.

Contour.MED brings you the latest in technology and techniques, such as their new in-house laser, which can assist with skin concerns, laser hair removal, pigmentation, needling and so much more. Their services include a skin analysis and detailed skincare plan to address all your concerns and budget.

This August, Contour.MED proudly introduced Dr. Nadia Van Der Westhuizen and Dr. Bianca Van Wyngerd - two well-known gynaecologists - to the practice. They are available for consultations and procedures, such as the O-shot and other smaller “plastic surgeries".

Why do women have to go to a gynaecologist every year?

? Medical progress focuses on prevention rather than treatment. The recommendation is to see a gynaecologist for overall health, female health and the early detection of precursor cancer cells.

? People think gynaecologists only do pap smears, but a large part of annual examinations is overall health and ensuring that the patient goes for their essential screening tests, such as mammograms, bone density, colonoscopies and general blood tests.

? An appointment with a Contour.MED gynaecologist is a safe environment in which to talk about aspects that many struggle with but are too embarrassed to talk about – intimacy, libido and overall bedroom problems.

Is intimacy really that big of a problem?

Patients are not alone with their problems regarding intimacy. It is a complaint in approximately 90% of all women and extends from young girls to women who are late postmenopausal. In SA, it is estimated that 45% of all marriages end in divorce court –unfortunately a large percentage of this is due to infidelity and it often starts with a lack of intimate relationships between couples.

The gynaecologists at Contour.MED realised during their training that the last thing that is focused on is female sexual well-being and yet this is actually the greatest need of women today. Their goal is to make women aware, empower them and thereby create healthy, intimate relationships.

Is there anything out there that can help women get over the misperception regarding intimacy?

Due to improved medical research, there are so many options out there that can make an absolute difference in women's and then couples' lives. There are treatments focused on certain female anatomical areas to make the experience in the bedroom that much more pleasurable. Men don't always realize how different women are and the age-old joke about the 200 candles that need to be lit is so relevant and actually no joke...

What is available?

  • PRP (plasma rich platelets): In gynaecology, they can now use it for anti-aging of skin and mucosa. It helps with pain syndromes, general dryness as well as climaxing and orgasms
  • Laser: for the banding of certain cases of incontinence and anatomical defects after childbirth
  • Surgery: scar tissue, correction of anatomy – largely due to normal deliveries, things like anatomy that interfere with e.g. sports types, promotion of infections and then consequently break down self-confidence and harm intimacy
