Kimberley - The minor accused in the Griekwastad murder trial is currently being cross-examined by State Prosecutor Hannes Cloete.
The 17-year-old took the stand in the Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley this morning.
Cloete asked him why he picked up the two fire arms at the gate, where he alleges he found them. The boy answered that he wanted to arm himself and didn't want to leave them there.
The boy further testified that he recognized the Steenkamp's firearms at the gate immediately when he picked them up. The boy testified that he had to hang out of the bakkie to pick the weapons up. Cloete said he finds this strange to believe.
The boy stands accused of killing the Steenkamp family on their farm Naauwhoek in April last year.
The case continues.
