Odendaalsrus murder: Suspects still in custody─── 17:40 Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Odendaalsrus - The nine men who appeared in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court on Friday for the murder of a local farmer will apply for bail this Thursday.
Willie Jansen van Rensburg (69) was shot dead on his farm late last month.
Free State police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says eight men were arrested by the Hawks last week, in addition to Pule Motsamai, who was arrested shortly after the incident.
Jansen van Rensburg died en route to the hospital, after he and family members were attacked by five armed men.
The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from a safe they cut open, as well as a revolver and the victim’s bakkie, which was later found abandoned near Thabong.
