Kroonstad & Sasolburg - Four people have died and one has been critically injured in a collision on the N1.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha, a truck and a car collided about five kilometres from Kroonstad yesterday afternoon.
 
He says paramedics and the provincial services arrived at the scene to find that four men had died on impact, while one man had life threatening injuries.
 
After the patient was stabilised on scene he was transported to a local hospital by the provincial services for the care that he required.
 
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
 
Meanwhile, the R59 between Vereeniging and Sasolburg in the Free State has been re-opened following a head-on-collision between a truck and a car just after midnight.
 
Metsimaholo municipal spokesperson Gino Alberts says the road was closed for several hours to clear the accident scene.
 
According to him the driver of the car, died on the scene. He was alone in the car. The truck driver was not injured.
 
Alberts says the cause of the accident is being investigated.
