Kuruman - Northern Cape police are continuing to keep an eye on protesters on the N14 near Kuruman.
The road was closed for traffic after it was barricaded with burning tyres, tree branches and stones this morning at about 06:00. According to police spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, it is understood that residents of Mapoteng village are demanding better service delivery from the local municipality. Tawana says the situation is calm at the moment.
Traffic is flowing.
This came after the local mayor and the community group leaders had a meeting. No persons were injured and no property was damaged during the incident. Police will continue to monitor the situation.
