Investigative officer on horror find in #Danishmutilator case | News Article

The investigative officer in the trial of the alleged Danish mutilator, Peter Frederiksen, testified this morning in the Free State High Court about the horrific evidence confiscated during the raid of his Bloemfontein house.

Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn from the Hawks took the stand this morning, testifying how the police confiscated human tissue in the accused's freezer, medicine, a vibrator, and several cell phones, among other objects, prior to his arrest. Frederiksen was arrested in September 2015.

State prosecutor, Amanda Bester, started off this morning calling a second witness after the first witness, a nine-year-old, testified in camera yesterday.

Steyn's testimony focused on the validity of the search warrant and how the accused was arrested.

Frederiksen was initially facing a total of 61 counts. Bester withdrew three counts listed on the charge sheet yesterday. Charges 2, 3 and 4 were withdrawn. Some of the charges he is facing relate to the murder of his Lesotho-born wife.

He is now facing charges of, among others, the removal of human tissue in an unauthorised place, rape, the possession of firearms, the possession and production of child pornography, and paying and influencing a state witness.

The trial of the alleged Danish mutilator is set for eight weeks.
