The Loch Logan Waterfront in Bloemfontein confirms that an unidentified man drowned Saturday evening after plunging into the water in front of the shopping mall.

Spokesperson for the Loch Logan Waterfront, Meryl Henning, confirms the young man jumped off the roof of the mall, into the water in front of the building and drowned.

Henning told OFM News all indications are that the young man, whose identity and age are yet to be confirmed, committed suicide.

The shopping mall says the deceased is not an employee of one of the outlets at the mall, contrary to reports on social media stating otherwise.

“We sincerely regret the very sad incident. We wish to express our condolences to family and friends of this young man,” says Henning.

She thanks members of the local police, the diving unit, the fire brigade and other emergency services that assisted the mall at the scene.

Local police are yet to respond to OFM News’ enquiries on the incident.
