Potchefstroom calm ahead of community meeting─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 11:42 Sun, 09 Sep 2018
The situation at Potchefstroom, North West, remains calm ahead of a community meeting this afternoon.
Protest action in the Ikageng township flared up yesterday, with angry residents blocking and later barricading the N12 next to the township.
Police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, told OFM News no arrests have been made.
The situation has been relatively quiet since yesterday.
She says local authorities have been informed there will be a community meeting this afternoon where residents' issues, which include the allocation of land sites, will be discussed.
Botma adds police will be present to monitor the situation.
The JB Marks Municipality is yet to respond to OFM News’ enquiries on the unrest and the reasons thereof.
