Racketeering charges against suspended KZN Hawks head declared invalid─── 13:31 Wed, 26 Feb 2014
Durban - Racketeering charges against suspended KZN Hawks head, Johan Booysen have been declared invalid.
The Durban High Court ruled today that authorisation to prosecute Booysen for racketeering was inconsistent with the South African constitution.
Shaun Ryan reports that Booysen and 27 co-accused officers, all suspended members of the now disbanded Cato Manor crime unit, were arrested in 2012 and charged on 116 counts including 28 of murder. - ECR
