Fuel price hike expected next week─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:57 Wed, 26 Jul 2017
Motorists can expect to pay more for petrol and diesel as of next month mainly due to the rand’s volatility against the dollar.
Economist Dawie Roodt says at this stage the petrol price is likely to increase by 15 cents or so per litre next week Wednesday, August 2.
Roodt says in the short term the expected increase in fuel price is unlikely to hit consumers hard, while he warns that the longer term effects for the trending slow economic growth will, however, affect poverty levels and unemployment rates in the country.
The Department of Energy is expected to communicate final price changes on Friday.
