FREE STATE DIGITAL CREATIVE FEST - An augmented reality exhibition presented from 4 April 2020 to 4 September 2021.

This festival is a Visual Art & Augmented Reality project of INFINI3, funded by the National Arts Council of South Africa, which showcases collaborative work by selected Free State based artists. The festival partnered with The Radioactive Blog, which hosted a 4-day online hackathon with the 18 artists (and this group of artists consisted of 7 poets, 7 visual/fine artists and 4 digital artists), from the 24th to the 27th of March 2020. Thuthukani Ndlovu was the facilitator for the online hackathon, and the curator for this exhibition. The artists were tasked with created work in response to the current Corona Virus Pandemic. Before you enter the exhibition room, please ensure that you download the Artivive App (on Google Play/i-Store) on your phone so that you get to experience the Augmented Reality behind each artwork.

LOCKDOWN // A viral art experiment by the Free State Art Collective

LOCKDOWN is an experiment in solidarity – of how a creative spark can also initiate a positive viral response. Starting with a single quotation which will be given to two artists in the collective, a viral process will commence whereby one artwork inspires two, each of which inspires a further two and so on. The art collective will create a body of work which will become an online exhibition initially and then finally be presented as an actual exhibition once we get to the other side of Corona.
