Nyalas perform best at Philippolis Game Auction─── 07:56 Sun, 05 Mar 2017
Philippolis - Nyala ewes reached almost R20 000 each at the first Philippolis Game Auction of 2017.
Approximately 400 animals were up for sale at the game auction which was held at the Otterskloof Private Game Reserve in the Philippolis area in the Free State.
Vleissentraal Auctioneer, Lukas Kleynhans, says game such as springbuck, blesbuck, blue wildebeest and black wildebeest were among the game that were up for auction.
He says not all the animals were sold during the auction but there were 36 registered buyers, which shows a healthy interest in buying game. He says all the game is from the Philippolis area.
"Nyala ewes went up to R19 000 and bosbokke R13 250. Good prices were paid for springbucks, ranging from R2 500 to R5 000 for the colour variants. The auction was a great success and well attended."
