International Women’s Day celebrated─── 15:07 Mon, 08 Mar 2021
International Women's Day, celebrated on 8 March each year, is a day on which the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women are celebrated globally.
Women’s Day also marks a call to action for addressing gender inequality.
In a statement, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed International Women’s Day, saying that the theme this year is female leadership and achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.
He further emphasised that the women of South Africa have played a vital role in the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic after it reached South Africa a year ago. “We salute the resilience and bravery of female frontline workers, who worked to fight the pandemic as nurses, doctors, emergency personnel, police officers and soldiers,” says Ramaphosa.
Happy Women’s Day to all from OFM News.
