The Free State Education Department confirms more than 92% of educators and non-teaching staff have been vaccinated.
Speaking to OFM News at the Botlehadi Primary School in Bloemfontein, where Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is conducting an oversight visit, the department confirms it is pleased with how the vaccination drive has been proceeding in the province.
Provincial spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, says a number of schools in the province have commenced with full-time teaching and learning with learners attending at full capacity. He says although this does not include all schools across the province, they are still working on measures to ensure that there is compliance with Covid-19 protocol and social distancing at schools.
Motshekga is expected to engage teachers and learners at the school before heading to two more schools where she will also monitor teaching and learning under lockdown alert level 3.
