Investment fraudster to reappear in court─── 11:16 Thu, 05 Aug 2021
A 43-year-old woman is set to appear before the Mahikeng Magistrate's Court on Thursday for evading her fraud trial case.
This is after Goitsemang Magabanyane was rearrested by the Hawks for running a fictitious investment scam.
North West Hawks spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso, says the accused has in 2018 allegedly tricked people in Mahikeng to invest in her scam with opportunities in the mining sector in Mpumalanga.
Magabanyane is alleged to have facilitated twelve transactions amounting to R170 000, which was paid by unsuspecting victims. Upon receiving the money she would immediately cut all communication with the investor.
Rikhotso said the matter was reported to the Hawks and members of the serious commercial crime investigation arrested her during a sting operation.
The accused made a series of court appearances until she skipped trial, scheduled for 29 April 2021. She was traced and arrested in Kuruman.
