Cape Town - The hitmaker, Ricardo Groenewald, has died after battling cancer. The 43-year-old 'I Love You Daddy' hitmaker was admitted to the Tygerberg hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Tuesday and passed on last night (Wednesday).


The 43-year-old 'I Love You Daddy' hitmaker was admitted to the Tygerberg Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Tuesday and passed on last night (Wednesday).

Groenewald suffered from stage four lymphatic cancer and was on chemotherapy since October. 

Having performed with Stevie Wonder on an international children’s tour, the 80s star is best known as the boy behind the 1987 classic, I Love You Daddy.

He made his last public appearance on Sunday, at a packed hall at the His Grace Performing Arts Centre in Parow, in a wheelchair.

Ricardo is survived by his wife Helen and their three children.
