"Dracula" on display in Germany─── 07:00 Sun, 25 Mar 2018
What is believed to be the largest and most robust pterodactyl ever found, and aptly nicknamed "Dracula" owing to the site it was discovered, is currently on show at the Altmuehltal Dinosaur Museum in Denkendorf, Germany.
Paleontologist Mátyás Vremir discovered the first bone of this Transylvanian pterosaur on a steep slope near the Romanian town of Sebe in 2009.
It has a physique different from other previously known species with a carpal bone larger than that of a mammoth, and a neck the width of a full-grown man.
Scientists estimate Dracula's weight to be at least half a ton and its wingspan between 12 and 20 meters.
Standing upright, it was probably as tall as a giraffe.
