Johannesburg. - Emerging Springbok number eight Ashley Johnson's younger brother Herschol will make his run-on debut for the Griffons in a Vodacom Cup match against the Leopards in Welkom on Friday night.
The elder Johnson was a member of the team that beat the Leopards in the First Division final in Potchefstroom last year, but plays his rugby out of Bloemfontein this season.
The selection of the younger Johnson is one of two changes to the starting XV with Bethlehem prop Hercu van der Walt also making his debut in the Union's Purple jersey.
Hooker Jan-Louis Coetzee drops out of the 22 with Romano Sibiya coming onto the bench with veteran prop Chrisjan Fourie. The Griffons backs that did duty against the Pumas are unchanged. Teenage sensation Cecil Afrika, who needs only one try to equal the Griffons and Northern Free State try-scoring record will again start in the number 15 jersey.
