Bulls and Nkosi part ways─── MORGAN PIEK 08:37 Tue, 27 Jun 2023
The Bulls and the Springbok winger, Sbu Nkosi, parted ways with immediate effect on Monday, with the franchise confirming the move.
Nkosi played for the Bulls this past season after joining from the Sharks, however, his stay in Pretoria did not go according to plan by any means.
Nkosi went AWOL at early in his stint and it transpired that he was suffering from mental health issues, and according to the union they accommodated his needs and assisted where they could.
Toward the end of the season, when the 27-year-old started playing again, he took an apparent swipe at the club via his social media platforms and bemoaned for a lack of support after appearing in an invitational match in Europe.
On Monday the Bulls confirmed via a statement that they and Nkosi have parted ways by mutual consent.
“The Blue Bulls Company (BBCo.) has agreed to the early termination of Sbu Nkosi’s contract by mutual consent and the 27-year-old will leave the club with immediate effect.
“After a season in the capital, Nkosi’s adventure at the Vodacom Bulls comes to an end with the conclusion of the 2022/23 rugby calendar, as the player looks to pursue his rugby elsewhere.
“Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Rathbone, said: “I would like to thank Sbu for all that he has contributed towards our campaigns during his time with us. I know that it wasn’t an easy time for him personally, but I am confident that the support we provided to him was invaluable
“Having a Springbok winger of his calibre in our team has been a pleasure. I know that he now feels as though it is the best time to move on and we respect his wishes.”
“The club would like to thank Sbu for the contributions he made during his time at Loftus Versfeld, and wishes him well for his future endeavours.”
At this stage, it is unclear what the future holds for the talented outside back.
