'This is probably the biggest club game we have had' - White─── MORGAN PIEK 08:34 Sat, 15 Jun 2024
“This is probably the biggest club game we have had in a really long time. This Leinster side has 25 internationals, a World Cup-winning coach and a team that is desperate to win.”
The Bulls Director of Rugby, Jake White, has called for a big push from his players on Saturday when they tackle Leinster in Pretoria in the semi-finals of the United Rugby Championship.
The Bulls will be targeting a spot in the final for just the second time, and on the previous occasion they reached the championship match, they stunned Leinster with a 27-26 victory in Dublin.
Leinster however remains a quality united and they recently reached the final of the European Champions Cup where they fell just short against the French giants, Toulouse.
The Bulls in turn have been consistent throughout the camp and they also did well in the Champions Cup.
The Loftus Versfeld faith will play a big part in bringing the energy on Saturday, but the team from the capital city will have to be dialled in mentally and physically.
White, said they are playing against a quality opponent and this will be as close to Test match rugby as one can get outside a fully-fledged international game.
“This is probably the biggest club game we have had in a really long time,” said White.
“This Leinster side has 25 internationals, a World Cup-winning coach and a team that is desperate to win.
“Their current group of players has played at the World Cup, three European Cup finals, they have played in URC playoffs and they have played and won the Six Nations.
“All they have done over the last three years is switch the colour of their jerseys, blue this week and green the next.”
Saturday’s semi-final at Loftus Versfeld kicks off at 16:00. At 19:00, the defending champions, Munster, will be in action against Franco Smith’s Glasgow Warriors at Thomond Park in Limerick, Ireland.
