Griquas sign Pumas star Fisanti in major coup─── MORGAN PIEK 14:33 Tue, 14 Apr 2026
The Suzuki Griquas coach, Pieter Bergh, has confirmed the signing of yet another exciting addition to their squad, with the new recruit set to join later this year.
The Currie Cup champions have secured the services of hard-working flanker Ntsika Fisanti from the Pumas – a move that is bound to ruffle a few feathers, especially with the two sides set to lock horns next week. Fisanti, who boasts a Sevens background, is widely regarded as one of the Pumas’ standout performers – arguably their best.
His influence on a game is unmistakable, and his absence is just as noticeable when he’s not in the park.
There’s a rich history of players moving between the Griquas and the Pumas, but this latest signing is a major coup for the Peacock Blues. Fisanti brings a dynamic blend of physicality and mobility, drawing comparisons to the likes of Lourens Oosthuizen and Carl Els in terms of his hybrid playing style.

Bergh told OFM Sport they are thrilled to have landed Fisanti from their fierce rivals, and believe he will add real value to the squad after the Currie Cup.
“We’ve signed Ntsika Fisanti from the Pumas,” said Bergh. “He’s an openside flank that we’ve been tracking for a while. He was very keen to join us and take the next step in his career here. He’ll link up with us after this year’s Currie Cup, around October or November.

“We’re really pleased about it. He’s currently one of the top try-scorers in the SA Cup and has been one of the Pumas’ standout players. We’re delighted that he’s willing to come in and add quality depth and healthy competition to our loose forward group.”
Bergh added Fisanti has long been a player they’ve earmarked whenever preparing to face the Pumas, underlining just how highly they rate him.

“Whenever we’ve played against him, he’s always someone you have to plan for,” Bergh explained.
“He’s one of the key players you focus on when analysing the Pumas. He’s very physical, extremely fit, and with his Sevens background, he’s got genuine pace as well. If you look at his profile, he compares quite closely to someone like Vlam Oosthuizen in terms of the style of rugby we want to play.
“He’s a quality player, and that’s exactly why we’re so happy he’s decided to join us.”
Meanwhile, on Saturday at 17:00, Eastern Province will take on the Griquas in Gqeberha.
