Batting first, Namibia were bowled out for 156 runs in 36.2 overs, with wicketkeeper Zane Green top-scoring with 33 off 42 balls, while Alexander Busing-Volschenk scored 31 off 68 balls before being run out.

The only other batter to trouble the scorers was Louren Steenkamp, who made 23 off 36 balls.

Proteas captain for the series, Bjorn Fortuin, was the pick of the South African bowlers with his outstanding 4/33 in ten overs, while Kwena Maphaka took 2/18 in 5.2 overs and Corbin Bosch claimed 2/39 in his five overs.

In reply, the Proteas were ruthless in chasing down the modest total, reaching their target with 171 balls to spare.

Once again, Jordan Hermann led the charge with the bat, blasting 77 off 59 balls, while Connor Esterhuizen continued his fine form with the willow, finishing unbeaten on 68 off 68 balls.

Waldo Smith may have taken the wicket of Hermann, but Jack Brassell was Namibia’s best bowler with 0/36 in six overs.

Following the series win, Fortuin said they had ticked plenty of boxes and that it had been a valuable exercise ahead of the upcoming series against Australia.

“Without taking anything for granted, 3-0 is what we were striving for,” said Fortuin.

“Those are the types of standards that we set for ourselves, not only as individuals but as a group as well. To achieve that was a nice achievement. But I think I mentioned it earlier, the most important thing for us as a group going into a big season back home was time on the park.”

“A lot of our best learning happens out there on the field as cricketers. We can learn only so much in the nets and training sessions, but out there is what really matters.”

Fortuin said it is important to continue building, even though a largely different team will take on the Australians later in September.

“To still carry on learning and putting in performances like that at the same time is the most pleasing thing. I think we had some nice momentum coming in from the T20s, where guys were starting to hit some form, with ball and bat.”

“The main focus was keeping that momentum going as individuals and as a group, trying to keep working on the good things that we were doing, but not neglecting the areas that we still needed to work on as well.

“That was the main focus coming into the series – just trying to put in that complete package and complete performance. I’m very pleased to say that that happened in the last game.”

Jordan Hermann, with 247 runs in the three ODIs, was named Player of the Series.

The first One-Day International between South Africa and Australia will be played on 24 September at Kingsmead in Durban.
