The UN adopted a resolution, tabled by South Africa, to defend Semenya's rights to participate in sports.

Semenya and Athletics South Africa are locked in a battle with the IAAF over the athletics body's new testosterone regulations for female athletes.

These require women with elevated testosterone, competing in events from the 400m to the mile to decrease those levels in order to compete in IAAF-recognised competitions.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is hearing the matter has postponed its decision until the end of April.

The court says both parties have submitted extra documents and have agreed to delay a decision to the end of next month.
