Electricity supply gradually improving, says generation head─── 11:06 Mon, 25 Mar 2019
An increase in imports and gradual improvement of the national power system means good news for the South African public.
Eskom announced that no load-shedding is anticipated for this week.
According to a late night statement, there's been a gradual improvement in the power system.
Eskom says the increase in imports from Mozambique has had a positive impact on the power supply.
The power utility's head of generation, Andrew Etzinger said, the utility was in a very desperate situation a week ago.
Import issues, local performance of power stations, and emergency power producers being unable to contribute due to a shortage of diesel were all factors that combined to create the situation, Etzinger stated.
He explained one of the reasons why Eskom has cut back on power is to catch up on essential maintenance.
