Steenhuisen no longer DA Chief Whip─── 11:24 Thu, 24 Oct 2019
Democratic Alliance Member of Parliament, John Steenhuisen, is no longer the party's Chief Whip.
He's emphasised that he has not resigned from the party, but remains "a committed and determined member of the party and cause".
Steenhuisen's move from his position followed DA leader Mmusi Maimane's resignation as DA leader on Wednesday and further resignation from the party and parliament on Thursday.
Let me be clear: I have NOT resigned from the @Our_DA or Parliament. The Leader of the party appoints the Chief Whip. With Mmusi’s resignation from Parliament my term as Chief Whip ends. I remain a committed and determined member of the party and cause.
