Three men were lucky to escape serious injury when the helicopter they were flying in crashed on Marija Street in Sinoville in Pretoria on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a small helicopter lying on its side in the middle of the road. Three men were found nearby, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
Local authorities and fire services closed off the road while medics assessed the three men. "Fortunately, all three men escaped serious injury and declined transportation to a nearby hospital."
The exact details surrounding the crash were not yet known, but authorities were investigating, Meiring said.
