Eskom urges SA to reduce electricity use─── 05:17 Fri, 11 Dec 2020
Eskom is urging households to reduce electricity usage to minimise the risk of load-shedding.
The utility says the system is severely constrained and there is a high probability of load-shedding.
A capacity shortage has been caused by the loss of multiple generation units and high-load losses. This is in addition to generation units already on planned maintenance.
Eskom says teams are working around the clock to return these units to service as soon as possible.
