This, as the group and the provincial ANC PEC delivered their arguments at the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein on Monday. 

The group argues that the Branch General Meetings (BGMs) were illegally constituted because those who attended the Ilanga Estate conference were those from the nullified 2017 Nasrec delegation - which emanated from the Parys conference. 

A member of the group and also former MEC of the Department of Public Works in the province, Sekhopi Malebo, says they hope that SCA judges will rule in their favour and prove their case against the PEC. 

Meanwhile, judgment has been reserved in the matter.

"Our lawyers were very clear in questioning whether that 2018 conference was new or a continuation, and if it was new, why were the basic requirements of a conference never met; and if it was a continuation, why matters which were raised were never attended to," Malebo adds.

Meanwhile, the ANC provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, previously said this group of disgruntled members challenging the constitutionality of the PEC, is just trying its luck and nothing will change.

Meeko lambasted what he termed ill-discipline amongst ANC members and said it is dangerous for the ANC.

The group of ANC members wants the SCA to overturn the 2018 Free State High Court judgment, which dismissed their bid to have the ANC PEC nullified and declared unconstitutional.
