The Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) is proposing a new regulatory regime, including making it mandatory for the Post Office to serve customers within minutes, Business Day reports.
The proposed regulations are also applicable to private courier services. The proposed overhaul of the regulations by Icasa include the power to impose fines on Sapo if does not fulfil its licence conditions.
One of the proposals contained in the draft states that customer service time should not exceed seven minutes for postal services. Furthermore, all post offices must display collection frequency and clearing times.
Interested parties have until May 5 to comment on the proposed regulations.
