Phase two of the country's vaccination drive kicked off this week countrywide but it hasn't been all smooth sailing.
Some 700,000 health workers are still waiting to be vaccinated.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize promised to vaccinate them all by Friday but admitted the target is going to be missed.
Phase two targets those aged 60 and older while continuing Phase 1-B is aimed at healthcare workers.
Meanwhile, over 3,300 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the country.
The death toll continues to rise, with 151 more people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
This brings the cumulative deaths to 55,719.
At least 72 of the latest deaths were recorded in the Free State.
The recovery rate is at 94.2 percent.
