It’s a first in South Africa. Sniffer dogs are being trained to identify people infected with Covid-19.
De-activated coronavirus samples are being used to get the canines clued up in this ground-breaking project - a collaboration between RAPS K9 Law enforcement, Netcare and, Ampath.
Five dogs are being trained to sniff out Covid-19 positive patients.
The dogs should be ready for deployment to ports of entry in approximately three months.
