Eskom is fighting to stabilise the grid.
CEO André de Ruyter says they’ve managed to bring several power plant units back online after consecutive trippings.
He said power cuts will be temporarily suspended at 21:00 on Friday night.
Stage 1 power cuts will start on Saturday morning at 05:00.
