Busy conditions are expected on the N3 Toll Route between 06:00 and 18:00, with traffic volumes likely to peak between 09:00 and 15:00.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution as they head home after the long weekend, especially those coming from the flood-ravaged KwaZulu-Natal.

The N3 Toll Concessions' Thania Dhoogra, says northbound traffic volumes (towards Gauteng) are expected to increase from early Monday morning as road users start to make their way back home after the Easter long weekend.

"Busy conditions are expected on the N3 Toll Route between 06h00 and 18h00, with traffic volumes likely to peak between 09h00 and 15h00,"she says.

"N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) warns motorists to be extra cautious and to make provision for wet weather conditions that are likely to continue, and which may cause traffic congestion and delays. Early morning fog and mist, resulting in poor visibility, may also be experienced along some parts of the route," she adds.

She notes that emergency and law enforcement services will continue to be on high alert on Monday, and should it be necessary, the Roads Traffic Inspectorate may implement special traffic control measures to manage the flow of traffic and improve general safety along the route.

“Motorists are requested to support the efforts of the incident management teams to protect road users’ safety by driving defensively and adhering to the rules of the road,” says Dhoogra.
