Public servants are telling the government: "It's 10% or nothing".
South Africa's labour unions banded together for a day of protest yesterday.
There are fears that further strike action might become violent should the government fail to accept the demand for a 10% wage increase within seven days.
At the protest on Tuesday, disgruntled employees booed the Acting Public Service Minister, Thulas Nxesi.
