Rublev outclasses Harris─── MORGAN PIEK 09:06 Thu, 01 Jul 2021
Andrey Rublev - ATP
It was a dark day on the court for the South Africans with the leading men's singles player in the country, Lloyd Harris, being knocked out of Wimbledon by Russia's Andrey Rublev.
Harris was beaten in straight-sets by world number seven. Rublev needed just an hour and 22 minutes to send Harris packing with a 6-1, 6-2 and 7-5 win. Rublev goes on to play the 26th seeded Fabio Fognini of Italy.
Rublev dished up a mixture of power and precision on his backhand and found consistent depth on his forehand return throughout the third set.
Earlier in the day the big serving Kevin Anderson was dispatched by the world number one, Novak Djokovic, with a 6-3, 6-3 and 6-3 win.
