The 24-year-old Harris had to fight back to beat the 26th seeded Russian, Karen Khachanov, in five sets to book his spot in the 2nd round.

After winning the first set, Harris dropped the next two, before rebounding for a 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3, and 6-2 win.

Harris served 20 aces in the process. He also dished out 46 winners in the match will managing to covert five of the 14 breakpoints on offer.

Harris has what should be an easier 2nd round tie when he faces the 178th seeded American, Ernesto Escobedo, tomorrow.

Should Harris managed to knock out Escobedo he will be up against the winner between the 22nd seeded American Ryan Opelka and Italy's Lorenzo Musetti.

Recently Harris faced Opelka in the round of 16 during the Canadian Masters with the American winning the game 4-6, 7-6 and 7-6.

Meanwhile, tomorrow morning at 01:00 Kevin Anderson will be up against Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman.
