South Africa's leading men's singles tennis player, Lloyd Harris, has finally won a game on the ATP Tour in 2022.
Harris beat the Argentine, Facundo Bagnis, in three sets at the Indians Wells Master to claim his first victory this season.
Harris served a total of 14 aces and boosted with a win serve percentage of 91% as he beat Bagnis 6-3, 6-4 and 6-3.
Harris has experienced a torrid time on tour in 2022 and hasn’t been able to advance past the first round of the Adelaide International, Australian Open, ATP Rotterdam, Qatar Open or Dubai Tennis Championships.
His only win before beating Bagnis was during the opening match of the Davis Cup World Group I promotion playoff against Israel in Ashdod when he beat Daniel Cukierman 6-4, 6-4.
The 30th seeded Harris will face a tough opponent in the 32 of 32 in the form of the 6th ranked Matteo Berrettini of Italy. Berrettini in his turn beat Denmark's Holger Rune, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-4.
