Novak Djokovic - Roland Garros

Novak Djokovic won his 23 Grand Slam title on Sunday by winning the men's singles of the French Open at Roland Garros. On Sunday during the men's final Djokovic beat Casper Ruud of Norway 7-6, 6-3 and 7-5.

The win sees Djokovic become the first men's player to win all four of the majors at least three times. Djokovic will regain the number one ranking in the world.

Djokovic said going into the final he knew he just had to continue focusing on the job at hand in order to claim an historical title.

“I knew that going into the tournament, going into the match especially today, that there is history on the line,” said the Serbian great.

“But I try to focus my attention and my thoughts into preparing for this match in the best way possible to win like any other match.”

The 36-year-old Djokovic downplayed being the greatest player of all time after his feat on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

“I don't want to say that I am the greatest, because I feel, I've said it before, it's disrespectful towards all the great champions in different eras of our sport that was played in a completely different way than it is played today.

“I feel like each great champion of his own generation has left a huge mark, a legacy, and paved the way for us to be able to play this sport on such a great stage worldwide.”

On Saturday, Iga Swiatek, of Poland beat Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 5-7 and 6-4 to win her third women's singles title at the clay-court Grand Slam.
