#BlackMonday memorandum demands response within 30 days─── JOSCA HUMAN 15:37 Mon, 30 Oct 2017
A memorandum of demands has been handed over to SAPS’ Brigadier Khuto Khuto by the organiser of Bloemfontein’s motorcade in protest against farm murders, Frikkie van der Walt, today.
The memorandum indicates that the SAPS and the Mangaung Metro have 30 days to respond to the protestors requests.
Brigadier Khuto said in an interview with OFM News that the police and the Mangaung Metro Municipality will be meeting tomorrow to discuss the memorandum.
This comes after various farm attacks and farm murders across the country.
The memorandum from farmers reads as follows:
TO: Mangaung Metro Municipality/SAPS
FROM: Concerned Residents of Bloemfontein
DATE: 30/10/2017
SUBJECT: Demands of citizens
1. In this protest today, we drive with the purpose to create local and international awareness of the horrific farm attacks and murders.
2. We hereby declare that there is a total onslaught upon us.
3. Our farmers are being systematically murdered by organised gangs in the most cruel, savage and barbaric ways. We demand that more be done by the Mangaung Municipality to dissolve these gangs before they get a foothold in the community.
4. We now reached the point where we are no longer able to endure this genocide.
5. There are currently too few emergency support services in place for the farming communities in our areas. More needs to be done in ensuring all farming areas have access to emergency services and emergency plans of action should be in place and communicated to the people in these communities.
6. There are too few working police vehicles allocated to assist in farm attacks. We demand that more patrol vehicles be deployed and more satellite police stations be erected in the rural farming communities.
7. Roads are currently in such a poor condition that emergency and support services struggle to get to the scene of need in a timely manner. We demand that maintenance of roads be carried out on a monthly basis to ensure easy access to farms.
8. We demand that farm attacks be seen as a top priority in our municipality so that emergency assistance can be provided without delay.
9. We demand that the government and the police view these farm murders as a national priority and to take real and concrete action to stop the farm attacks and the incitement against them.
10. We want services delivered to us within 30 days. We are entitled and have the right to these services and it is within our constitutional right to demand them to be delivered in a timely fashion.
